  • My garage door remote stopped working. What should I do?

First, put new batteries in the remote. If that doesn’t work, the remote may need to be re-programmed to the opener. If that doesn’t work, your remote or opener may be having other issues. A professional garage door service like Fox Valley Overhead Door Company can help you in this situation.

  • How should I maintain my garage door?

Most homeowners can do basic maintenance on garage doors themselves. The hinges, springs, and rollers can get a small amount of lube once a year, per our professional recommendation, or when they start to get noisy. If you notice a frayed cable, broken spring, or loose hinge, or if the door just isn’t operating properly, give us a call. We can have a trained professional come out to see what the problem is.

  • How do I get my garage door or opener fixed?

Give our garage door service a call to discuss your issue. Typically, we can get a technician to your home or business on the same day or the next day to diagnose and repair your issue.

  • There are so many insulation options. What R-value do I need?

The Clopay garage doors we offer provide many different insulation options. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation factor. Our insulated residential doors range from 6.3 R-value up to 20.4 R-value, and our commercial doors can go as high as 27.2 R-value. Please contact us to discuss your needs, and we can help you decide which R-value would be the best for your application.

  • How do I open my garage door if the power goes out?

There is an emergency release cord located on your garage door opener. Pull the release, and that should allow you to open and close the door manually. Our garage door service offers garage door openers with battery backup so that your door will still work, even when the power is off. Contact us for pricing.

  • My door only raises or lowers a few inches, then returns to the original position. What could it be?

  • I need new door springs. Can I replace them myself?

Yes, you can, but we strongly recommend having this done by a qualified garage door service. There is a lot of tension on door springs, and it can be very dangerous. We recommend having one of our trained technicians replace your springs.
